Gaun Building

The Lumberton Historical Society was founded in 1974 by a group of township citizens who were eager to share with others a recent study of the town by a group of Temple Students. The students studied architecture and the lives of those who work and lived in our town.

The Society began gathering artifacts and photos from residents which represented Lumberton's past. The artifacts they acquired became so numerous that they needed a place to store them. In 1982 the Township officials offered the use of three empty offices in the building they were using as their headquarters. This building is now known as the Ridgeway Gaun  Community Center. Named after Mr. Gaun who was Lumberton's Township Clerk for a significant number of years.

We have maintained this museum, continuing to collect memorabilia of our town's past for over 40 years.
